Hadassah Australia was proud to be part of this year’s vibrant Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations at Caulfield Racecourse, hosted by Zionism Victoria. Surrounded by thousands of community members, we marked Israel’s 77th Independence Day with an activity that combined art, compassion, and connection.
Our interactive initiative, “Windows of Hope,” invited children and adults alike to create messages of healing and strength for wounded soldiers and civilians undergoing treatment at the Gandel Rehabilitation Center in Jerusalem.

Inspired by the iconic Chagall Windows at Hadassah Hospital, participants coloured and decorated window arch templates — some based on the original Yoseph Window, others left blank for personal expressions of support. The community response was overwhelming.
The Hadassah team was touched by the creativity, care, and warmth shared at our stall. Children proudly shared their artwork with friends, parents engaged in meaningful conversations, and many expressed deep appreciation for Hadassah’s work in Israel — particularly during such a difficult time.
We thank everyone who visited our stand, coloured a window, or simply stopped to learn more. Together, we created something truly beautiful: a moment of solidarity, healing, and hope.
