Thanks to our generous supporters, the ORSIM bronchoscopy simulator was handed over last month to the medical team at Hadassah Hospital’s Ein Kerem campus in Jerusalem.
This cutting-edge device is revolutionising the training of Hadassah's anaesthetists, intensivists, and emergency physicians, offering them realistic virtual reality scenarios to refine their bronchoscopy skills. The hands-on experience is enhancing their ability to save lives and improve patient outcomes.
Stéphane Ledot, Director of Anaesthesiology at Hadassah Ein Kerem, highlighted the impact of the ORSIM, stating: “It will revolutionise the way we train our staff to manage difficult airways. There is no doubt it will enhance their skills and, ultimately, improve patient outcomes.”
The campaign to fund the ORSIM was initiated by Melbourne-based Associate Professor Joel Symons, whose leadership and dedication were pivotal in bringing this vital project to life. Inspired by his time volunteering at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, Joel recognised the urgent need for this advanced medical training device, and his commitment was instrumental in securing the necessary funding.
Joel personally presented the ORSIM to Hadassah, and he is continuing to work closely with the team to ensure they are able to maximise its use and impact. Kol Hakavod, Joel!
