The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu is known for his famous saying "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. The Board of Hadassah Australia understood the challenges we faced when we set our $1,000,000 goal for our Beds for Recovery campaign. The need was clear. Over 2,200 seriously injured IDF soldiers needed access to long-term, inpatient acute rehabilitation services.
Our target was incredibly ambitious, an order of magnitude bigger than anything we had previously done. But we believed! We began the journey!
We believed that the Mission was important and that we could reach the high target, one dollar at a time. And indeed, that proved to be the case. Over 560 individual generous donors contributed to the Beds for Recovery campaign and every $ contributed from the community was matched by an additional $3 from our incredible matchers.
Combined, over a period of just over six weeks, we climbed that “mountain” that will help Jerusalem’s Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Mount Scopus, complete the construction of Israel’s newest state-of-the-art 140-bed acute rehabilitation facility.
To our community of generous donors – our heartfelt thanks.
To our supporters, we invite you to visit the Gandel Rehabilitation Center yourself, meet the people and marvel at the incredible life-affirming work that is being done there.
For those of you visiting Israel in January we have arranged two opportunities for you to join a guided tour of the facility and meet the beneficiaries of Australia’s generosity.
Details of the dates and times are outlined in the newsletter below.
Thank you for your support.
