Kol Hakavod, Dr George Braitberg

Shortly after the horrific onset of war last October, Prof George Braitberg, a noted emergency medicine specialist, left his wife, children and grandchildren, and his 96-year-old mother who miraculously survived the Lodz ghetto and the Auschwitz concentration camp, and volunteered his services at Hadassah Hospital, Ein Kerem.

Hadassah Australia recently honoured Prof Braitberg with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Prof Braitberg is executive director of strategy, quality, and improvement at Melbourne Health. With his expertise in emergency medicine, medical toxicology and bioethics, his help and support were greatly appreciated at Hadassah.

“I don't think many doctors have experienced anything like what happened on October 7. This is not only because of the huge number of lives that were taken, but also because of the shocking way in which it was done”, explained Prof. Braitberg.

During his many years at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Prof. Braitberg trained a number of Israeli emergency doctors who have since gone on to take up senior positions in Israeli ER departments, including Dr Ahmad Nama, Head of Emergency at Hadassah Ein Kerem.

On behalf of Hadassah Australia, Ron Finkel gratefully acknowledged his wonderful volunteer work at Hadassah Hospital and sincerely thanked Prof Braitberg for sharing his extensive medical experience."
