Celebrating International Nursing Day

International Nursing Day, marked earlier this month, is an opportunity to recognise the critical role nurses play in healthcare systems worldwide. Their tireless efforts, skills, and compassion make a significant difference in all our lives.

In the realm of healthcare history, one organisation stands out for its significant contribution to the field of nursing in Israel — Hadassah Medical Organization.

Established in 1912 by Henrietta Szold, a visionary leader who recognised the need for medical care in the land of Israel, Hadassah has always placed placed a strong emphasis on nursing as a crucial component of healthcare.

Hadassah pioneered nursing education in Israel from the organisation's inception. The first school of nursing was founded in 1918 before the birth of the State of Israel, as part of Szold's vision to improve the health of the diverse population.

Today, the Henrietta Szold Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Nursing offers a wide range of programs and courses, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters in Clinical Nursing, specialising in the area of adult care. Many members of Hadassah’s nursing staff are involved in cutting edge research.

Celebrating International Nursing Day, we take this opportunity to spotlight the wonderful nursing students and graduates of the Hadassah-Achotenu Ethiopian-Israeli Scholarships in Health program, proudly supported by our community.

From all of us, thank you for your important work!
