SAVING LIVES: HADASSAH EMERGENCY APPEAL

At this critical time in Israel’s history, we urge Hadassah Australia supporters to stand with Israel and Hadassah Hospital. Make a gift today to urgently help heal the people of Israel.

Following the unprovoked Hamas attack on Israel’s southern border with Gaza, our focus must be on the urgent need to care for those who have been seriously wounded. While hundreds of Israeli civilians have paid with their lives and thousands more have been injured, many of them critically,

Many of the most challenging cases are evacuated by helicopter to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. Hadassah’s expert and experienced mass casualty teams have stepped up to do whatever needs to be done to save the lives of the critically injured.

We are in a dire time of war, and your support is urgently needed to purchase medical supplies, essential equipment, and other indispensable devices for healing and saving the lives of some of Israel’s most severely injured victims.

Your gift puts the expression Tikkun Olam (Repair the World) into action as we work to heal and repair our own beloved Israel in these devastating and uncertain times.

Dr Gabriel Szydlo, a surgeon at Hadassah, noted:

"We have been working non-stop trying to save lives (since the first helicopter arrivals with casualties of the Hamas attack). I'm someone who always tries to find something positive in every situation, even situations like this... this is what I can think of right now:

Today I renew my awe and amazement at Hadassah - as a hospital and as a community. Every team was here giving their all - not just surgeons, doctors and nurses. Not only psychologists, radiology technicians, and social workers... teams of secretaries, cooks, cleaning crews - everyone together working as one with one goal in mind: to save as many people as possible.”

And on the ground, Hadassah National President Rhoda Smolow sat with war-injured patients at Hadassah Ein Kerem, where many of the worst trauma cases are being sent.

In her words, “The scope and scale of the injuries and destruction is devastating, with every Israeli family impacted.”

Rhoda visited a lone soldier who was shot in the face. He had already had three surgeries when Rhoda stopped by his bedside, soon after bringing comfort to another solider and his mother, who thanked Hadassah for saving her son, too.

Hadassah is a world leader in both the surgery needed and the rehabilitation required.

We know that the path to recover for the injured will be a long and challenging one. It will start with surgery and will continue through much needed rehabilitation.

We, the Hadassah Australia family, are very proud to be part of, and to support, the Hadassah mission.
