The gift of hope and healing
Earlier this month, we celebrated the legacy of Marc Chagall at a special event at the Jewish Museum of Australia - Gandel Centre of Judaica. At this time of year, as we count down the days to Rosh Hashana, Chagall’s lyrically beautiful art encouraged me to contemplate the past, look around at our community, and think about his and our hopes for a better future and how we can make a difference.

DuSH - Hadassah Hospital’s Head Medical Clown – recently brought his four-and-a-half-year-old son Adam to do the rounds of the paediatric wards with him. Together, they brought joy and laughter to sick children at Hadassah Ein Kerem.
The patients were amused –a father and son, big clown and little clown, going from room to room and making kids laugh out loud. Little Adam really enjoyed himself and has already promised to join his dad at work again.
Summing up his experience, Adam said: “My daddy brings happiness to children, and it was fun to be a clown for the day at Hadassah, just like him.”

Gandel Rehabilitation Center: a new landmark
Progressing at full speed, the state-of-the-art Gandel Rehabilitation Center is taking shape. The construction is already a landmark high on the skyline of Mount Scopus, and, in the not-too-distant future, will be a new symbol of hope and healing for Jerusalem.
We at Hadassah Australia are kvelling with pride and joy knowing that the fabulous new Gandel Rehabilitation facilities will strengthen and help the people of Jerusalem and Israel.

Terror survivors praise work of Hadassah Medical staff
Hadassah Australia is honoured to support the life-saving work of Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, where survivors of terrorist attacks recently gathered to express their gratitude. In a poignant assembly, they marked 20 years since a devastating attack on Jerusalem city bus #14, where Sarri Singer, a New Jersey native, was among the survivors.

In an unprecedented medical feat, both ovaries of a premature baby girl were able to be saved. The procedure, described as the first of its kind globally, involved an emergency cesarean section and surgery performed just 30 minutes after birth.
