In a poignant gathering, survivors of terrorist attacks came together at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem to express their gratitude to the medical staff who saved their lives. The event marked 20 years since a devastating attack on Jerusalem city bus #14, where Sarri Singer, a New Jersey native, was among the survivors.

On June 11, 2003, Singer was on her way to dinner when a terrorist detonated 22 pounds of explosives on the bus. Seventeen people lost their lives that day, but Singer's life was saved by the quick actions of Hadassah's medical team.

Two decades later, Singer was joined by seven other terror survivors, Hadassah medical staff, and representatives of Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America, to commemorate the day and celebrate their survival.

Singer, now the director of Career Services at Touro College and founder of Strength to Strength, an organisation supporting other terrorism survivors, expressed her gratitude: “I’m here to thank the staff of Hadassah Medical Organization who saved my life and the women of Hadassah who were there for me over the last two decades."

The event also brought together other survivors, each with a unique and harrowing story of survival. They included Gila Halili Weiss, Moshe Frej, Adi Huja Peretz, Dvir Musai, Aluma Mekaitan Guertzenstein, Dr. Gabby Elbaz Greener, and Natan Sandaka. Their stories ranged from surviving bombings, shootings, and landmine explosions to overcoming life-threatening injuries and going on to lead fulfilling lives.

The gathering was not only a tribute to the survivors but also a testament to the exceptional care provided by Hadassah Medical Center. Dalia Itzik, chair of the Board of the Hadassah Medical Organization, affirmed, “Hadassah has long given top professional care to the residents of Jerusalem and will always be there for them in the future.”

Hadassah CEO Naomi Adler added, “I felt overwhelming gratitude to the thousands of Hadassah supporters who make this happen.”

The event served as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the vital role that medical professionals play in not only saving lives but restoring hope and dignity to those affected by terror.
