Hadassah Australia is proudly partnering with JIFF for the premiere screening of the film “Exodus 91” at the 2023 Jewish International Film Festival in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
As part of the special screening, there will be a post-film panel discussion. Topic: Empowering young Ethiopian-Israelis to dream big and overcome economic, social and educational challenges.
Exodus 91” is docu-narrative film that tells the story of Asher Naim, an Israeli diplomat who is sent to Ethiopia to negotiate the escape of 15,000 Ethiopian Jews. The film takes the viewers behind the scenes of “Operation Solomon”, the diplomatic and military mission to bring thousands of Ethiopian Jews to Israel in the midst of Ethiopia's brutal civil war. “Exodus 91” explores challenging questions of racism, white saviour-ism, homeland, cultural identity, the politics of immigration, and the hardships of the Olim, and those that followed them, to this day.
