JCIC: Dealing with layer upon layer of trauma in families

The waves of terrorism that Jerusalem has suffered over many years has steered Hadassah’s Jerusalem Crisis Intervention Center and the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Division towards specialising in treating the aftermath of trauma.

Right now, their work is critical for the people of Jerusalem.

Led by the renowned Director Dr Esti Galili-Weisstub, the team works tirelessly, treating and supporting children and adolescents suffering psychological trauma, stress, anxiety, loss, depression and PTSD.

In the words of Dr Esti Galili-Weisstub: "We can’t erase the event. But we can help children and adolescents make sense of it and continue to grow and develop in spite of that experience. Traumatic events shatter a person’s natural sense of security, and we can help them trust again. To be psychologically affected by trauma means horrible disability that doesn’t show up in physical external scars. It also means that one can become less trusting and less optimistic about the future, less creative and less empathetic to others. We pride ourselves in our ability to address each child and each family’s needs."

Please consider making a tax-deductable donation that will help the children and adolescents of Jerusalem deal with trauma, loss, anxiety and stress.
