Thank you and Kol Hakavod to Moriah College in Sydney for supporting Hadassah Australia's "Beds for Recovery" campaign, raising much-needed funds for the acute rehabilitation of severely wounded soldiers and civilians treated at the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Mount Scopus in Jerusalem.
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and generosity, Moriah College recently welcomed Hadassah Australia Vice-President, Lynda Brest, and NSW Development Manager, Kira Brandt, to their morning Tefillah service. The occasion was highlighted by the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation, celebrating the high school’s wonderful achievement in raising over $4,000 for the “Beds for Recovery” campaign, supporting the rehabilitation of injured soldiers and civilians in Israel. Through the generosity of matching donors, this impressive sum became an even more impactful $16,000.
Lynda and Kira joined the students in prayers for the IDF, victims of terror, and the State of Israel, reflecting later on the emotional and meaningful start to their day. The auditorium was filled with a sense of pride and solidarity as the nearly 700 students came together. During her remarks, Lynda Brest offered a poignant reminder of the impact of their efforts, asking the students to look around the room and visualise the same number of injured Israelis treated at Hadassah since the events of October 7, 2023.
In expressing Hadassah Australia’s heartfelt gratitude to Moriah College, Lynda Brest shared: “We at Hadassah Australia, are thankful to be a channel for helping young Jewish Australians to connect with Israel and strengthen our global Jewish family, adding, “your support is invaluable in helping us achieve our mission.”
Moriah’s fundraising initiative is a wonderful example of the power of community collaboration.
Kol Hakavod to Moriah College Principal, Mira Hasofer, and to all the staff and students for their generosity and unwavering support. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
