Hadassah Australia Joins Global March to Recovery on 8 October

On October 8, 2024, hundreds of participants gathered at the partially-opened Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Mount Scopus in Jerusalem and around the world for Hadassah’s “March to Recovery”.

Here in Australia, Hadassah Australia friends and supporters proudly gathered at Bondi Beach in Sydney at 6.00am and at lunchtime at Caulfield Park in Melbourne in support of the global event. We were deeply honoured to be part of similar gatherings across the globe, including in Beijing, Hong Kong, Paris, London, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Bogotá, and Mexico City. 

In Jerusalem, the event featured prominent figures from the hospital administration along with dedicated staff and recovering war-wounded patients. A poignant moment was marked by the release of 101 yellow balloons, symbolising solidarity with the 101 individuals who remain abducted and in captivity in Gaza.

The march and the important ceremony at the Gandel Rehabilitation Center represented resilience, healing, and recovery for civilians and soldiers wounded in the ongoing war and the tragic events of 7 October.
