"We Are Here to Thank You" – The IDF High Command Visits Hadassah Hospitals

On Sunday, as part of a special Solidarity Week honouring IDF wounded and to mark a year since the 'Iron Swords' War, senior IDF commanders Deputy Chief of General Staff Major General Amir Baram, Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot, and IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, visited Hadassah Hospitals to thank the staff and management for their relentless dedication and immediate, full commitment.

They met with Director General of the Hadassah Medical Organization Prof Yoram Weiss and thanked him and the medical and nursing staff who led the treatment of war casualties at the hospital, performing complex surgeries around the clock, continuing to care for the many wounded being airlifted to the hospital.

Brigadier General Hagari received a comprehensive briefing from Prof Weiss on Hadassah's efforts, from life-saving surgeries and the use of robotics and advanced technologies in the operating rooms to the rehabilitation at the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Mount Scopus—a journey of recovery for each patient.

The discussion highlighted the unwavering and immediate dedication of the staff members, from all sectors and backgrounds, in their commitment to treating war casualties. "It is a great privilege to closely know the dedicated individuals caring for the war casualties and saving lives” said Brigadier General Hagari.

At the two Hadassah Hospital campuses, an unprecedented number of war wounded - more than 1,000 injured - have been treated over the past year, some of whom are still hospitalised or undergoing intensive rehabilitation.

Prof Yoram Weiss emphasised to the visiting IDF leadership, the immediate and full mobilisation of staff from all professions, nationalities, and religions from the very first moment, as well as their ongoing commitment throughout the past year, responding to every helicopter landing.

Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot said, "I know Hadassah well, and as a Jerusalem resident whose daughters were born here, I have a deep affection for this medical centre. When I was wounded in Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip, I was treated and rehabilitated at Hadassah, so I am very familiar with the importance of rehabilitation for soldiers. I bring with me a message of unity, of working together and building closeness both on the front lines and on the home front. This unity is a true source of strength for all of us, and it’s thanks to this that we are strong even today."

Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Amir Baram said, "When a soldier goes into battle, he fully understands the possible consequences, and he knows that if needed, there is a comprehensive evacuation system and world-class medical care behind him. Here at Hadassah, you specialise in treating complex and severe injuries, and with your vast experience, you bring them back on their feet—from the moment they arrive through to the essential stage of rehabilitation. You at Hadassah Hospitals, together with the doctors and nurses recruited to the frontlines, have prevented far more severe injuries and allowed many to return to their lives. I am here to thank you—all of you, on behalf of the Chief of Staff and the entire IDF."

Visiting the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Mount Scopus, Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot expressed his gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the IDF High Command to the rehabilitation teams who have been caring for Iron Swords soldiers for over a year, supporting them through the long physical and emotional recovery process.
