In a heart-warming display of appreciation and connection, pupils from Mount Scopus College in Melbourne embarked on a creative journey to strengthen the bonds between themselves and the dedicated nurses of the Hadassah-Achotenu Ethiopian-Israeli Scholarships in Health program.
With meticulous care and a touch of creativity, the young school students crafted special friendship bracelets, a symbol of unity and support, intended as gifts for the hardworking Hadassah- Achotenu nurses in Jerusalem.
“It was wonderful to see the creativity and uplifting words they chose to include as part of these friendship bracelets, such as “Toda”, “Am Israel Chai”, “Peace” and even “Bring Them Home Now”. This activity was a great way for them to showcase their solidarity and care for nurses working in hospitals in Israel during these very challenging times” said Suzy Suss, who coordinated the initiative together with Hadassah Australia.
When received by two of the Hadassah-Achotenu nurses in Jerusalem, they were deeply touched by the gesture and were delighted to be able to share them with their Achotenu colleagues.
“The Hadassah-Achotenu program is transformative, offering underprivileged Ethiopian Israelis scholarships to pursue higher education in healthcare. By enabling them to become pioneers in their families and communities, the program not only addresses Israel’s nursing shortage but also inspires future generations” said Ron Finkel AM, Hadassah Australia President, adding “Seeing the younger generation of our own community engage with the program in such a creative and meaningful way was truly inspiring. Kol Hakavod!”
