Demanding Justice and Accountability: HWZOA Appeal to the UN Secretary-General

Carol Ann Schwartz, President of the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America, submitted a petition signed by over 130,000 people around the globe, including many hundreds from Australia to the UN Secretary-General, criticising the silence from both the UN and the international community. The petition demands immediate action, justice, and accountability for sexual crimes committed by the terrorist organisation Hamas.

Carol Ann Schwartz emphasised that rape should not be used as a weapon of war, criticising the UN's refusal to address the issue and accusing it of undermining efforts to seek justice for women worldwide. She stressed the need for global unity in speaking the truth and demanding action. Schwartz critiqued the UN's recommendation for an inquiry committee, which she deemed biased and obstructive to justice, and highlighted the ineffective discussion on sexual violence by Hamas in the UN Security Council as an attempt to silence the issue.

We are proud to have participated in Hadassah's International campaign to advocate on behalf of victims, raise awareness and demand justice for the perpetrators of the horrific sexual violence on and after October 7.
