
Prof George Breitberg, emergency medicine specialist at The University of Melbourne, diverted his conference plans when war struck on October 7.
In a swift response, he left his family in Australia, including his 96-year-old Holocaust survivor mother, to offer his services at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
Specialising in medical toxicology and bioethics, Prof Breitberg reflects on the unprecedented events, stating, "I don't think many doctors have experienced anything like what happened on October 7th. I have treated victims of disasters, shootings, and also in cases where entire communities have been harmed, but none of this is similar to what happened here." he said, "I am grateful for my ability to help and am proud of the people who work here."
