Gandel Rehabilitation Center helping Israelis heal

Dr Tamar Elram, Director of Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital, emphasises the importance of expanding acute rehabilitation at Hadassah. At a recent webinar Dr Elram said that rehabilitation is a way of redefining hope. “After a man or a woman is unfortunately wounded, whether in a car accident or from disease or in a terrorist attack like we’re experiencing these days, they might not necessarily go back to the life they knew before. But then our object is to redefine what hope is for them, what is their new way of health and living".

Hadassah Hospital is currently home to the only acute rehabilitation centre in Jerusalem, with only 38 in-patient beds. Even before the war, the need for more services was evident, but now it’s vital.

The new Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Mount Scopus will significantly increase the number of patients the hospital can treat.

In addition to increasing capacity, the Gandel Rehabilitation Center, when complete, will give patients room to thrive in a healing environment, which is vital in the rehabilitation process.

Dr Elram expressed Hadassah's urgent need to complete the state-of-the-art Gandel Rehabilitation Center which will enable Hadassah to immediately quadruple the number of people the medical teams can assist.
