Facilitated by Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a VIP delegation from Ukraine's Ministry of Health, comprising medical experts, soldiers, police officers, and NGO professionals, recently visited Hadassah Medical Center with a crucial mission: to upgrade and develop Ukraine's medical rehabilitation system following the devastation of the ongoing war.
The Ukrainian guests observed how rehabilitation is managed in Israeli hospitals and gained insights from Hadassah's group of rehabilitation experts, led by Prof. Isabella Schwartz, Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Hadassah. They discussed topics such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. Communication was not a barrier as most presentations were conducted in Russian, allowing questions and ideas to flow freely.
Continuing on their tour, they viewed the advanced rehabilitation department and the fast-rising Gandel Rehabilitation Center, leaving them inspired and encouraged. They also learned about the history and mission of Hadassah Medical Organization and Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America.
This visit marks the inception of a greater partnership with Ukrainian colleagues already making contact to continue collaborating with the Hadassah teams.
It is another example of Hadassah and international collaborators striving to make a meaningful impact on global healthcare.
