Esther is 22 years old and one of six siblings. She grew up in Netivot, located between Beersheva and Gaza and home to a large number of Ethiopian families.

Esther successfully completed the preacademic (mechina) program and found the curriculum to be extremely helpful in preparing for her academic nursing studies.

2020 has been a formative year for Esther. Between the COVID-19 pandemic, adjusting to remote learning, and keeping up with intensive studies, Esther also got married and she and her husband moved to Ashkelon.

Esther believes that the nursing profession is vitally important and she wants to be part of and contribute to it. “I love helping people and am particularly attracted to a profession which offers me a myriad of options and plenty of responsibility. I have been so proud to watch the important role nurses have played in dealing with this pandemic. It makes me more determined than ever to join this amazing profession."

Esther is thrilled to be in the nursing scholarship program. Without the financial assistance it provides, she could never afford to go to university and earn a degree.

She is also very grateful to be studying at The Henrietta Szold Hebrew University School of Nursing, one of Israel’s leading nursing schools.

I thank the dear donors from Hadassah Australia from the bottom of my heart. Your support is enabling me to devote myself full time to my academic studies. It is wonderful to know that there are people who believe in me and are putting their full support behind my success. Thank you for helping me get closer to realising my dream to become a nurse.
