As 2011 comes to a close we are pleased to share with you some of the activities and projects Hadassah Australia undertook over the last 12 months, and provide you with some insight into our exciting plans for 2012.

Attached with this eBulletin are a number of documents and extracts including:

“The Impact of Giving” book from The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Foundation: a unique publication that is distributed to members of this prestigious Foundation. It details the work of the RCH Foundation and includes case studies of some of its most important initiatives. This most recent edition includes “The Hadassah Center: Delivering RCH Innovation Across the Globe” – a story which describes the Hadassah / RCH collaboration, and underscores that the work and contribution of Hadassah extend far beyond Israel and the Jewish community.

“Windows on Hadassah” magazine, an international publication by Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, profiles the heart-warming story of young toddler, Miley Hyland, from Queensland’s Gold Coast. Miley suffered chronic liver failure as an infant and at one point in her young life was given only days to live. Determined investigations by her Brisbane doctor eventually led him to Professor Orly Elpeleg at Hadassah’s Department of Human Genetics and Metabolic Diseases, who was able to immediately diagnose Miley’s condition and provide immediate treatment.

Professor Yaron Ilan will be visiting Australia later this month. Professor Ilan is Director of Medicine at Hadassah Hospital, as well as Chief Medical Officer of Immuron Ltd, a publicly listed Australian biopharmaceutical company. He will be delivering a number of presentations in Melbourne and Sydney in collaboration with the AICC and BioMelbourne Network, as described in the enclosed web page extracts.

Hadassah Australia News provides a summary of 2011 in review and offers a glimpse into 2012 – a landmark year which marks the centenary of the Hadassah movement as well as the 10th anniversary of Hadassah Australia.
